Yemen Mokha Ismaili. If I was stranded on an island, this is the coffee I would take. I often liken Ismaili to "your grandmothers strawberries", they grew gnarly odd shapes and sizes with a flavour explosion that you never get from the perfectly formed supermarket strawberries. The best Yemen coffee is similar with a deep, earthy concentration of flavours that you just don't get in other regions, it's the heirloom varietal with a geographic isolation that has kept it the same for a thousand years. This years Yemen Ismaili is a ripper, high altitude, dense small beans that take a fair bit more heat to roast but will yield thick oozing shots with a depth like no other. Red fruits in the mid roasts, liquid cocoa in the darker roasts. Enjoy!
